Description of the project
Nordic Energy Perspectives (NEP) is
an interdisciplinary Nordic energy research project with the
overall goal of demonstrating means for stronger and sustainable
growth and development in the Nordic countries. Now we are
starting the second phase of the project. The first phase (2005
– 2006) has recently been finalised..
Phase 1: April 2005 - September 2006
The first phase of the project was
completed 2006.
Phase 2: 2007 - 2010
The second phase of the project will be
completed during the period
2007-2010.
NEP analyses the national and international
political goals, directives, and policy instruments within the
energy area, as well as their influence on the Nordic energy
markets and energy systems and the infrastructures and
institutional structures. NEP aims at clarifying to
decision-makers the consequences of political and strategic
decisions for politicians, energy actors and the public. The
project is to promote a constructive dialogue among researchers,
politicians, authorities and actors on the energy markets.
For decision makers, the project will clarify
the consequences of political and strategic decisions by
politicians, energy actors and the public to make better and
more well-balanced decisions between competing ends possible.
The project will also present ways for the Nordic countries and
their energy actors to act in order to meet the demands from the
rest of the world regarding environmental adjustments and
security of supply in a cost efficient manner.
The toolkit of the project
The research group of the project handles a number of
professional models and tools for analysis, which will now be
put at the project’s disposal. They will jointly constitute an
advanced toolkit. The following models will be used in phase 2:
